Thanks to the 2 Sec 2 cadets, Maggie and Gerald, for sucessfully completing the cadet leaders drill course. In 2012, we will get them to share with the next batch of NCOs.
Lastly congratulations to following cadets & NCOs who have joined me in the 1 star kayaking course. You have been awarded the cerificate. You are Xiang Qin, Winston, Wei Hong, Jia De, Kenny, Brenda, Asyraf, Leonard, Zhao Wei, Ivan, Haikal and Asffaq. Once again congratulations. I look forward to those who didn't manage to clear this time and those are keen to join us. We will do it in June this time. ;)

Mt Kinabula Climb Nov 2011
Dear Cadets and Parents,
Anderson NPCC unit is organizing a 4D3N Mt Kinabula Climb this 21-24 Nov 2011.
We have just evaluated 5 quotations and the cheapest quote is as mentioned to you via sms.
We strongly urge you (parents to encourage your child/ward) to join us as this will surely be an enriching experience for them as climbs like this is not that possible for any usual-sized family with varying physical fitness level.
More information will be shared with your child/ward on their last day of exams.

Please understand that your attendance at PK is important and besides that, PK badge is one of the core badges that all should have. Making up for PK course can't really be possible due to availability of venue & resources while catching up work taught during extra Sep lesson is still possible through your friends as well as teachers.

OBS Programme Organised by NPCC HQ
NPCC HQ has secured places in the MOE-CCAB sponsored OBS Programmes for schools meant primarily for student leaders. The course focuses on: Leadership Information, Leadership Attitude, Communication Skills, Decision Making Skills and Stress Management Skills .
The course dates will be as follows:
8 Nov - 12 Nov
14 Nov - 18 Nov
21 Nov - 25 Nov
Things to note:
1) Only Secondary 3 NPCC cadets will be accepted and they must be Singapore Citizens.
2) Nominated cadets must NOT have attended any OBS programmes.
3) The cost of the course will be borne by CCAB. However, selected cadets will have to refund the amount if they are absent for the course.
4) As there are limited places, NPCC HQ reserves the right to ballot places should there be overwhelming response.
5) Officers should submit nominations in order of preference in order to facilitate any balloting that might take place.

Dear Cadets,
The delivery of the unit tees is delayed.
According to the vendor, they may be delivered to me on Sat morning. So Sec 2s I may be able to pass them to you at the campsite. No promises. Sec 3s, yours should be completed latest next week. So in this regard, all Sec 2 & 3 cadets going to Ubin pls ensure you have sufficient tees, bring along plain white/black tees as substitutes instead.
Outstanding payments
Cadets who has yet paid up e.g. Sec 2s and 3s, pls do so to me directly or thru' your NCOs. Or else I have to cough our $900 which is a lot.
Ubin Camp Indemnity
Justin Tan (Sec 2), Nicholason Kam (Sec 2), Mogan (Sec 2), Tan Jiawei (Sec 2) and Palman (Sec 3), your indemnity forms are not submitted. You should have the forms with you, pls get your parents to sign and bring it on Fri. Otherwise you will not be allowed to follow through the activities. What a waste right?

The unit is nominating the following for the upcoming shooting competition. It is a definitely a very honourable duty to perform as you are representing our school.
Boys: Tay Pu Qian, Haikal, Sakthisk, Asyraf & Zhao Wei
Girls: Brenda and Shi Qi + others (TBC)
Pls get yourselves mentally prepared. Preliminary rounds are usually in Jun. Dates will be confirmed with u as soon as possible. In the mean time, if u r unable to represent our unit, do let your teachers know by end of next week.

NPCC HQ hereby extends an invitation to all Secondary 3 cadets, Cadet Inspectors & interested Teacher Officers to apply for the Overseas Educational Visit to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and Beijing People's Police College. The visit will be held from 7 - 12 June 2011 and will bring the delegation to the People's Republic of China.
The delegation will comprise the following members :
1 x Head of Delegation
1 x SPF Staff Officer
1 x NPCC Teacher Officers
1 x NPCC Cadet Inspector

Nomination of Cadets
Nomination and selection of cadets will be conducted on an area basis. ACs are to take note of the following when making their nominations :
Ø nominate ONE outstanding cadets as principal participants and another ONE cadets as reserve (Total - 2 nominations). Please indicate your principal nominees and reserves clearly in your nominations.
Ø nominations should preferably include one male and one female cadet.

Invitations are also extended to CIs. ACs, with the recommendations of your OCs/Dy OCs, may nominate deserving CIs to participate in the trip. As there are limited number of places, ACs are advised to provide strong justifications in their nomination in order to increase their chances of being selected.
Nomination of Teacher-Officers
Teacher-officers, including OCs and Dy OCs, may apply for the trip. All applications must be accompanied with strong justification, supported by the AC and endorsed by the school principal. Please ensure teacher-officers can be released from school duties during the period of the trip.
Other Administrative Information
ACs are also advised to note and comply with the following admin instructions in their submission of nominations :

Ø All duly completed nomination forms must be accompanied with a copy of the valid passport and parent's consent (where applicable)

The final amount will be confirmed upon engagement of the travel agency. Details of payment to be made will be given together with the results of selection.

I am pleased to inform you that NPCC HQ is organising the abovementioned course. The details of the course are as follows:
Course: 80th Cadet Inspectors’ Basic Training Course June 2011
Duration: Modular Courses28th May, 4th June, 11th June
Residential Course13th June to 25th June (including a 4-Day 3-Night ATC at NPCC Camp Resilience)
2 Cadets who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply:
a) Cadets graduated from the Secondary Education who are now currently studying in the Institution of Technical Education (ITE), Junior Colleges or Polytechnics or cadets who are in their 5th year of Integrated Programme (IP) studies.
b) Hold a minimum rank of Staff Sergeant.
c) Must be physically fit (required to pass the medical examination).
d) Possess ALL the following badges:
i) 2nd Class Drill
ii) Campcraft
iii) Adventure Training
iv) Police Knowledge
v) Total Defence
e) Possess at least one of the following badges:
i) Marksmanship
ii) Community Safety and Security
iii) Swimming
iv) Kayaking
3 OC Units MUST inform their nominees of the following:
a) NOMINEES WILL NOT NECESSARILY BE POSTED BACK TO THEIR ALMA MATER. NPCC HQ reserves the right to post one or more of the trainees to another school unit that is in need of Cadet Inspectors.
b) Disciplinary actions will be taken against any trainee who fails to serve in the unit he/she is posted to upon graduation. This may include withdrawal of rank given to him/her.

Trainees will NOT be excused from the training sessions unless on medical or emergency ground. d) Any trainee who withdraws or is discharged from the course will have to return all uniform and accoutrements issued to him/her to HTCC Store. He/She has to pay for the cost of these items should he/she fail to return the items to HTCC Store.

Two Saturday training will be set aside to better equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge before you take over the unit from the current Sec 4 and 5.
The dates are:

*Attire: Bring Full Uniform and PT kit.

Sec 1 Police Heritage Centre Visit
Dear Sec 1 cadets,
We will be visiting the Police Heritage Centre this friday.
• Police Heritage Centre is located at the Police Headquarters, New Phoenix Park (NPPk), 28 Irrawaddy Road, Singapore 329560, Tower P, 1st & 2nd Floor.
• All visitors to the Police Heritage Centre are required to bring along their Photo ID i.e. IC/Driving Licence/Student Pass on the day of visit in order to gain admittance into the Police Headquarters or they will be turned away immediately if failing to do so.
• Visitors are strictly prohibited from using their camera phone / camera (i.e. both flash & digital) and/or videocam within the New Phoenix Park premise, including the centre. Approval has to be sought in advance.
• If you do not receive an email confirmation from us after you have sent in your PHC Appointment Form on your scheduled tour within two days, please notify us.
• As there is a distance between the Guardhouse and the Police Heritage Centre that is unsheltered, please bring along your wet weather gear (ie. umbrella or raincoat, poncho)
Attire: Full school uniform. NO School PE T-shirts pls.
Pls gather at Porch latest by 1:50 pm. You will be back in school by latest 5pm. Sec 1s will be dismissed after returning to school.

Camp Familiarization Trip
Dear Sec 1 cadets,
These are the details for this Saturday Camp Familiarization Trip :
Time to report : Reach school by 7.15am (Bus will leave school at 7.30am sharp.)
Time back to school: Around 7pm.
Attire : Anderson PE T-shirt & Track Pant. (To serve as protection from mosquito bites)
Things to bring :
1. 1 x more EXTRA school PE T-shirt
2. a small towel (to wept your sweats)
3. water bottle
4. Insect Repellent (Most important !!! )
*Note: There will be quite a lot of walking, thus please be travel-light. (Don't bring too many things!! )

Shooting Course on 23rd Feb 2011

As your shooting course will commence soon, please return all signed forms (with cash payment for students without edusave) to your respective teachers, Mr Kwok or Ms Sim by latest Mon 14th Feb.
Sec 3s, your only dry shoot practice is on 25th Feb. HQ has kindly agreed for you to be in half school uniform. Bus will be booked for you.

NPCC Marksmanship Course 2011
Dear Sec 2 and 3 Cadets,
The time has come again for the shooting course to prepare esp. the Sec 3 for your classification Shoot (5th April 2011).
It warrants your marksmanship badge if you meet the mark. That's why we are arranging for the shooting course again on this coming 23rd Feb 2011 (Wed).
Course fee is $35 - price we can get if we have 50 cadets participating in it.
We will be issuing you and your parents/guardians the letter, consent and edusave form.
As the course is commencing shortly, we look forward to your fullest support by returning the forms promptly.

Unit Annual CIP 13th Feb 2011
Anderson NPCC Unit will be volunteering their services for Chingay Heartland Crowd Control on the 13th February at Ci Yuan CC.
Transport will be provided from Anderson to the venue at 5.30pm sharp, and the whole event is stipulated to end at 9pm.
Dinner will be provided as well.
Kindly keep that evening free before your NCOs approach you if you can volunteer then.

Training 14th Jan 2011 & CCA Open House 2011

Tmrw is an important day for all of us. We need to check ourselves and get ourselves ready for CCA open house 2011.
Training time is as usual tmrw and all cadet are expected to bring their Full NPCC uniform for checks.

New Year 2011
Dear Cadets,
Happy new year! Welcome back to school.
Some admin matters for a start.
1. The unit would like to thank our Deputy OC Unit, Mr Sim, for his past contributions to Anderson NPCC Unit. Thank you very much and we will welcome you always to grace our events and trainings. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. ;)
2. We would like to at the same time congratulating Mr Kwok for completing his training and has officially been appointed as a NPCC Teacher Officer. With Mr Sim's leaving the unit, Mr Kwok will now be appointed also as Deputy OC Unit.
3. Of course, in 2011, we continue to have the support from 2 other teachers, Ms Sim Hui Yin and Ms Audrey Tan. And not forgeting our HO, H/Insp Li Junbin and CIs, CI Alvin Yeow and CI Hazwani.
We hope that with all the continual support from our cadets, parents, our PLOs and the school, Anderson NPCC Unit will rise to greater heights.
Have a wonderful year ahead. And don't forget to turn up for CCA trainings.
